Welcome to Qurba Institute
The Qurba Institute was set up in 2004 with an aim to ‘revive the learning and imparting of traditional Islamic sciences in the North-West of England’. The city of Preston in Lancashire is however our primary focus. The means we have chosen to adopt are courses taught by qualified scholars who have authorisation (ijaaza) to teach from an unbroken chain of transmission going right back to our beloved Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace).
A translation for the Arabic word, ‘Qurba’ is ‘a means of drawing closer to Allah’; indeed through this endeavour we hope that both organisers and participants shall draw closer to our Lord.
